We are part of the International Dance Teachers Association who is regulated by Ofqual. Introductory exams start in our Rosette classes with teachers assisting the children throughout so they learn the exam process and build their confidence, learning the skills of practicing each week towards an end goal and the reward this brings. We then invite parents into class to see them receive their awards giving them a sense of achievement and something to be proud of. When the children are ready both physically and in maturity they then begin taking graded exams in Ballet and Tap as well as medal tests in Freestyle. Graded exams from Grade One upwards carry credits when applying to universities. Beyond the grades there are multiple routes either into Professional Performers exams or Teaching exams for those students who have the required skills. We offer Level 3 and Level 4 exams as well as Pre Associate and Associate Teaching in Freestyle. In Acrobatic Arts we use Progress Cards to individually assess the students on a weekly basis as we feel this can be best tailored to the individual’s own progress. In Contemporary classes we do include some grade work for technique but use this class predominently as a conditioning and creative class which works well in supporting the other subjects.
